Ethical Land Transitions Webinar Monday February 12

This webinar was presented by the Indigenous Concerns Subcommittee of Pacific Yearly Meeting’s Ministry Committee. The guest presenters, Cassandra Ferrera (director of The Center for Ethical Land Transition) and Frank Lawrence (attorney for California Heritage: Indigenous Research Project [CHIRP]) discussed ethical land transitions. Although the Sierra Friends Center- CHIRP land transfer was not the main topic of conversation, the presenters did provide some insight into how the process unfolded, and how this movement of returning the land to the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe, through CHIRP, the Tribally-led nonprofit, represents a step toward a deep transformational healing between cultures.
